Rebuilding America Street
This year in May, NOAHH will be hosting the 2015 AmeriCorps Build-A-Thon (BAT) on America Street in New Orleans East. In late January, software company VMware and ice cream legends Ben and Jerry's brought hundreds of volunteers (and patio furniture) to the neighborhood to prepare the sites for the 10-day, 10-home blitz build to come.
Each day was filled with celebrations and hard work, with VMware enjoying a gospel flash mob and Ben and Jerry's bringing ice cream (and the actual Ben and Jerry!) to go along with the framing, painting, and foundation work! Business travelers are a key part of the work done by NOAHH, as they provide thousands of our volunteers per year!

Attack the Block in the Lower Ninth
Southwest Airlines, longtime supporters of New Orleans, along with local support, volunteered with NOAHH's Attack the Block program in the Lower Ninth Ward earlier this year. The program brings volunteers to areas where NOAHH builds and addresses neighborhood revitalization needs, and Southwest made a huge difference while volunteering. They cleared brush and litter, helped in community gardens and parks, and fought blight for several hours despite the cold!
Winter Break Volunteers
Ohio State University joined NOAHH on site for their Alternative Winter Break trip. Each year, thousands of students spend their breaks--winter and spring--volunteering across the country. Though many more come to New Orleans during spring break, Alternative Winter Break volunteers are an important part of our winter homebuilding efforts! Thank you to all the students who participate every year!

A Habitat Family
As the third member of the Breaux family to earn his Habitat home, Byron Breaux was surrounded by family and friends in his home on a cold January day for his dedication ceremony. Many of NOAHH's homeowners have discovered the program because of friends and family who have inspired them with their own journey to homeownership through the program.
Looking for Artists
The New Orleans Home and Garden Show will be hosting an auction of art created by local artists from materials acquired at the ReStore! All proceeds will go to benefit NOAHH. If you are interested in being involved, contact NOAHH today!
Good Neighbors
NOAHH's ReStore and offices are located just down the street from Old New Orleans Rum, whom we have partnered with for various events in the past. This month, they joined NOAHH on site as volunteers in the St. Roch neighborhood, showing us what a good neighbor really is!
